1980s
1982 Houghton High School Hockey team
won the State B-C-D Championship. Members of this 1982 team were: Standing: Rod Paavola -Asst. 1984 A crowd of 21,756, the largest crowd to ever witness a hockey game in North America, watches Michigan Tech and Michigan State play in the Great Lakes Invitational Championship game.
1987 Hancock High School Hockey team is the
Runner-up State Champions.
1988
City of Houghton purchased
Dee Stadium from the MTU-Ventures Group
1988 Chassell High School hockey players began playing with the Jeffers Jets HS hockey team in the 1988-89 season.
