Ron Nettell, born 19-- in -- a Houghton native, played hockey for Michigan Tech 1948-50 and 1952-53. Donald A. Nichols born 1918, in Laurium, and played for various teams around the country including the Boston Olympics, Ft. Wayne Comets and Eveleth, Minn. Locally, he played for the Calumet Radars and Laurium Merchants and in 1948-49 for the Portage Lake Pioneers. He played for coach Joe Savini and was paired with Puppy Gresnick on defense. John "Bert" Noblet, (19-- to 1984) born in nearby Gladstone, Michigan, came to Michigan Tech as "coach of all sports in 1929 and developed MTU into a college hockey power." He coached at MTU for 8 seasons 1929-37. His three sons, Jack, Dick, and Pete, all played hockey at Michigan Tech. Noblet was inducted into the UP Sports Hall of Fame in 1978; he is also in the Michigan Tech Sports Hall of Fame. Jack Noblet, born 19-- in -- son of Bert, from Houghton, played goalie for Michigan Tech 1946-50 He was selected as All-American goalkeeper. Richard Noblet, born 19-- in -- a Hancock native, played hockey for Michigan Tech 1946-50. Mark Nutini, born 19-- in -- a Hancock High School hockey player -2000, plays for the local Finlandia University Hockey Team.
